Houston Garden Center Comments

This is by far the worst place to buy plants in Houston. They have terrible service, don't act like they care about their customers and the worst plant quality, even worse than Wal-Mart. How they stay in business is beyond me. Their 70% off sales are a joke. When you jack up the prices it is easy to give those huge discounts. I won't be going back.

My Husband and I shop at the Houston Garden Centers on 290 all the time, everything is always beautiful!! I always find what I am looking for plus more! I have never had any problems with anything I have purchased from Houston Garden Centers except for one piece of pottery. I was so pleased with the convenient service when few months ago I called the corporate office and explained my problem and emailed photos. They immediately addressed my problem, refunded me, and I received an letter of apology in the mail two days later. I really appreciated that that I did not have to haul this large piece of pottery anywhere and they were able to address my issue so easily. Thank you Houston Garden Centers, THE BEST!!!!

My wife and I have always had a beautiful yard and shrubs until we had debris from Hurricane Ike destroy our them. We had to replace the grass and shrubs. We found the best prices at HOUSTON GARDEN CENTER . Not only were the prices good but the lady at the Pasdena store was so nice and helpful suggesting the fungicide to use in our back yard and the shrubs that would be the best for the Houston climate.

Thank You " HOUSTON GARDEN CENTER " You are the BEST !!!!!!!

I have been a long time customer of Houston Garden Center and they keep surprising me everytime I enter their store no matter what location I go to. The staff has always been friendly and willing to help me find the perfect plants for my needs. I by no means have a green thumb but there staff has always recommended teh perfect plants that suites my needs. My home garden has never looked better. Thank you Houston Garden Center, you have made a custoemr for life!

I have found that Houston Garden Center offers the absolute best quality, best selection, and for by far the best price in town. Other places here in Houston seem to do a poor job of keeping their products well watered but I have never experienced this with Houston Garden Center. I would definitely recommend Houston Garden Center to my friends and family who are looking to visit a clean and helpful nursery here in Houston.

I had a pleasant experience at the Houston Garden Center at I45 Feeder and Highway 242 in The Woodlands. The prices and selection of plants were very good. The cashier was very nice and even gave me a better coupon that the one I had, saving me about $10. If you need someone to hold your hand and help you find things at a nursery, then Houston Garden Center is not the one for you. But if you like to browse around plants for very good prices, then it is a great place to check out.

Houston Garden Center is fine as long as you know what you are doing. If you have questions or need help with anything, don't bother. Their sod seems to be of poor quality. Also, there are no returns ever under any circumstance, so make sure you are careful about what you buy.

Went to Houston Garden Center on Friday evening on a search for a couple of trees including a Southern Magnolia...we walked around the nursery searching and couldn't find what we were looking for. In the meantime we did snag a knockout rose that was on sale and when we reached checkout, I asked the clerk about Southern Magnolias and she couldn't tell me because she couldn't speak English well. When are the owners going to wake up and make sure that they have people in place that can answer our questions when asked in English? I recognize that their employees are hard working people, however they need to have people in place that can speak our language. We wound up going to Houston Plant and Garden World and spent over $200 because they had people who were very helpful and could speak our language. It's unfortunate because I like the selection and the quality of the plant material at Houston Garden Center, but will not likely go back due to the lack of being able to get knowledgeable information to the questions I have.

Horrible! It's unfriendly and uncomfortable. The foreign employees usually hanging out in groups in the entrance, are gawking and drooling you up and down (if you are a young woman) during the entire time. VERY rude employees on the register. Tons of employees, no one speaks English, no assistance. Plants are overpriced and not labeled. Even in desperate times, I'll avoid this place like the plague.

Go to the Houston Plant and Garden World instead - the name is similar but the service, selection and prices are unbeatable!! I go there every weekend, hubby takes pictures and I shop ;)

I avoid this place as much as possible! The staff WILL NOT help you at all. They are rude as well. I second what esenter said none of the workers can speak english.

Houston Garden Center is horrible! I cannot believe they are still in business.
I'm way better off going to Market Central in downtown Dayton. They have a really nice variety of colorful plants at great prices! I live in Humble and it is worth the drive! (The employees there are so nice!)

About a year ago this garden centre had a brillaint Manager, he was helpful, knowledgable and couldn't do enough for you. He left for greener pastures! Now this place is the worst in the Spring area. No-one speaks English! No-one understands what it is you are looking for, and if you have a particular plant/shrub in mind you are best to look for it yourself because you cannot rely on the staff - they don't have a clue on inventory. All they are there to do is ring up your purchases. A garden centre this is not! I once ask for Angelonia and was told they had none, I went back later to find they had lots of it.......oh and the sign was misspelt!

This sums up this place and the experience you are likely to have there.

This is the worst gardening center ever. No one is helpful there. They don't answer their phone. They have a large sign that says they have sod. After four visits of going home empty handed,I gave up on them and their company. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.

I only go here if I am desperate and can't find what I'm looking for anywhere else. Their all sales are final is not very consumer friendly and most of the time their prices aren't that much less expensive than other nurseries that I shop. I say buyer beware, make sure you really need and want what you are purchasing because, once you step outside their gate and into their parking lot there is no turning back. Actually, let me restate that, once the register drawer is closed your sale is over then there is no turning back.

Large selection and good prices if you know what you are purchasing. Unless you are a horticulturist, you cannot buy a plant there. You must buy only by sight, the plants are not labeled. No descriptions what so ever, which makes it extremely difficult to purchase a plant. There is no one to seek advice about plants. The return policy on gardening accessories is not fair. I have tried 2 different locations and they are the same. I have taken my business elsewhere!
